To celebrate the birth of his daughter, King Verence of Lancre invites the nation's undead to attend the festivities. This turns out to be a mistake, because not only are the vampiric undead prone to nasty habits and bad manners, but they also refuse to return to the shadows when asked. Ultimately the local witches must form an alliance to drive them out of their city.
