In the sequel to A Long Way from Chicago, 15-year-old Mary Alice finds herself sent to live with her eccentric Grandma Dowdel for an extended period of time. At first, Mary Alice is apprehensive about the situation, but she soon grows to enjoy her time with her grandmother and the misadventures that they share. Most of their crazy schemes involve the eclectic group of characters that inhabit a small Illinois town during the 1930s.
