Killer Instinct (2006) Joseph Finder (Author)
Jason Steadman is a salesman at a large computer corporation. He's doing well, but he lacks the cutthroat drive, the killer instinct, that might make him a great salesman. He meets Kurt Semko, a former Special Forces soldier now driving a tow truck, and the two men strike up a friendship. When Jason hears that there's an opening at his computer company, he recommends Kurt for the job. In return, Kurt starts doing little favors at work--harmless little favors at first, and then ones that are morally gray, even dangerous. Soon it becomes clear that, while Jason may lack the killer instinct, Kurt is more than willing to make up for it.
