The Night Gardener (2006) George P. Pelecanos (Author)
When police officer Gus Ramone is assigned to investigate the murder of a teenaged victim found in a community garden, it brings to mind a similar case from 20 years ago. At that time, a series of teenagers were killed and left in the garden, leading the local papers to name the killer "The Night Gardener." The early murders were never solved, despite the best efforts of Ramone, legendary detective T.C. Cook, and former officer Dan "Doc" Holiday. Much has changed in the lives of the three cops since "The Night Gardener" case, but memories of the previous case bring them together to investigate this new murder. Will they be able to put aside the last 20 years and catch the killer?
