World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War (2006) Max Brooks (Author)
Max Brooks, son of Mel Brooks and author of The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead, presents this series of survivor accounts of the zombie war that came very close to destroying humankind. He traces it from Patient Zero in a remote village in China, through the Great Panic, to the end of the zombie crisis. Brooks juxtaposes inefficient and often self-serving public responses to the crises with heroic actions of ordinary survivors. The combination of first-person interviews, the documentary feel, the near-future setting, and the portrayal of human nature give an element of startling realism to the story.
